Description
CAIRDIO is an atmospheric large-eddy simulation code for application on urban dispersion modeling. In CAIRDIO, buildings have an effect on the physical conservation laws of mass and momentum through modification of the permeability and capacity of grid cells. This approach offers enhanced flexibility in the choice of grid resolution compared to standard obstacle-resolving codes, enabling computationally feasible simulations of entire cities. The possible representation of surface orography with terrain-following coordinates supports this application as it also allows the inclusion of the larger-scale environment surrounding cities.
CAIRDIO is written in Python and makes extensive use of the Python packages NumPy and SciPy for performance-critical model components. CAIRDIO is fully parallelized using MPI.
