Abstract
Calculations of the ionization yield obtained for the strong circularly polarized light ionization of m=0, +or-1 2p initial states from the so-called single Floquet state approximation are compared with the exact results reported by Gajda, Piraux and Rzazewski (1994) obtained via direct integration of the time-dependent Schrodinger equation. For m=-1, 0 excellent agreement is found despite the fact that the pulse length is only 20 optical cycles. The differences between the two approaches for m=1 support the different mechanism of stabilization in that case.
