Seroprevalence of Toxoplasma gondii and Neospora caninum in family farming goats from the Luracatao Valley, Salta, Argentina
2024, Veterinary Parasitology: Regional Studies and ReportsDetection of Toxoplasma gondii infection in semen of rams used for natural mating in commercial sheep farms in Tunisia
2019, Veterinary Parasitology: Regional Studies and ReportsCitation Excerpt :Taking reports from other countries into consideration, the seroprevalence found in our study was higher than that reported in Brazilian sheep using the Indirect Fluorescent Antibody Test (IFAT) (9.2%; Bezerra et al., 2014; de Moraes et al., 2010b). However, the seroprevalence was lower than that reported in Serbia with the MAT (84.5%; Klun et al., 2006) but was similar to that reported in Ghana (33.2%) and Iran (35%) using ELISA and IFAT, respectively (Van der Puije et al., 2000; Sharif et al., 2007). Such differences could be explained by several factors: environmental conditions, differences in diagnostic methods' performances and the age of sampled animals.
Molecular detection of Toxoplasma gondii infection in slaughtered ruminants (sheep, goats and cattle) in Northwest Tunisia
2017, Meat ScienceCitation Excerpt :Human infection is principally acquired by ingestion of food or water contaminated by oocysts or by consuming raw or undercooked meat containing tissue cysts (Montoya & Liesenfeld, 2004). Usually, the prevalence of T. gondii infection is higher in sheep than goats and cattle (Dubey & Streitel, 1976; Sharif et al., 2007). In Tunisia, culinary habits represent a risk factor of human's toxoplasmosis.
